Why Nowra & the Shoalhaven suit solar so well
The Shoalhaven's irradiance is among the strongest on the NSW coast, on par with Canberra, and Nowra's mix of suburban blocks, larger rural properties and Jervis Bay holiday homes each has a slightly different reason to go solar.
Excellent solar resource
At around 4.7–5.0 peak sun hours a day, Nowra and the Shoalhaven generate slightly more than Wollongong on average, thanks to fewer cloud bands moving in off the escarpment.
Bigger roofs, bigger systems
Many Shoalhaven properties sit on larger blocks than the Illawarra's tighter suburban lots, which often means room for a bigger system and a faster return on a home battery.
Storm-outage backup
Coastal storms occasionally cut power around Jervis Bay and the river towns. A battery keeps essentials running when the grid goes down.
