Solar systems are low-maintenance, but they're not no-maintenance. Over time, panels accumulate dirt and debris, inverters can develop faults, and performance can drift without you noticing. Regular servicing ensures your system generates the energy it should, and catches small issues before they become expensive problems. SunPeople services solar systems across the Illawarra, South Coast, and Southern Highlands, including systems we didn't originally install.
What we cover
What We Service
Panel Cleaning
Dirt, bird droppings, pollen, salt spray, and leaf debris reduce panel output. We clean panels safely and inspect for physical damage while on the roof.
Inverter Diagnostics
Error codes, reduced output, fan noise, and communication faults can indicate inverter issues. We diagnose and repair or replace faulty inverters across all major brands.
System Health Checks
A full inspection of your panels, inverter, wiring, isolators, and mounting hardware. We check actual output against expected performance and identify any issues.
Monitoring Setup
If your system isn't reporting to an app, or monitoring has dropped out, we can reconfigure it or upgrade to a current monitoring solution.
Fault Resolution
If your system has stopped working or is underperforming, we diagnose the cause and fix it, whether it's an inverter fault, a tripped isolator, a wiring issue, or a failed panel.
Recommended schedule
When to Service Your System
We recommend professional panel cleaning every 12–24 months (more often if your property is near trees, the coast, or a dusty area) and a full system health check every 2–3 years. Please note, some brands require an annual service to maintain warranty - please check with our team if this applies to you.
Signs your system may need attention:
⚠️ Lower energy generation than usual
⚠️ Inverter displaying error codes or warning lights
⚠️ Higher electricity bills despite similar usage
⚠️ Panels visibly dirty, stained, or damaged
⚠️ System more than 5 years old and never professionally inspected

Faults & warranties
What Happens If Something Goes Wrong?
If your system develops a fault, the first step is to contact SunPeople. We'll troubleshoot remotely where possible, and arrange a site visit if needed.
If the issue is covered by product warranty, we coordinate the warranty claim on your behalf. If it's a workmanship issue on a SunPeople installation, it's covered by our 5-year workmanship warranty. For systems installed by other companies, we can still diagnose and repair, we just can't make warranty claims on someone else's installation workmanship.
Extending system life
Extending the Life of Your Solar System
The most common issue we see is dirty panels reducing output by 10–25%, a problem that's easy and inexpensive to fix with regular cleaning. Inverter faults are the second most common issue, and early diagnosis (via monitoring) can often prevent a complete failure.
