Project overview
This A-class commercial building sits in Wollongong's CBD and is privately owned and tenanted to the NSW SES. The building features two large glass-topped atriums and a flat concrete roof. SunPeople was engaged to design and install a PV system to offset the building's base electrical loads.
challenge
The flat concrete roof had central drainage points and significant height variations across the structure, requiring a custom-engineered mounting solution to keep the panels level and meet the required wind load rating. The CBD location also created crane access constraints for the installation.
outcome
SunPeople worked with specialist engineers to design a simple, cost-effective mounting solution, and coordinated with Wollongong City Council to secure an out-of-hours crane permit for access via an adjacent public car park. The 99kW installation was completed within the allocated timeframe and now offsets a significant portion of the building's base electrical load.
